An assembly that looks at the ingredients that make up ambition. It also goes through how often to reach your ambitious goals you will get setbacks. I use the story of Jamie Vardy to illustrate this. I have included some notes on the PP slides to help you deliver it and explore the concepts with your pupils.

An assembly that looks at the work of charities and the benefits of volunteering. There are some videos from ‘V’ that introduces pupils to their work.

An assembly aimed at exploding the myth brains are fixed and don’t change. It looks at the science behind neuroplasticity through a video link and real life examples. Finally it looks at how these findings can be applied to learning.

An assembly that looks at how children can effectively help each other, e.g. Peer Tutoring and Collaborative work making reference to the EEF toolkit. This is of course done in pupil speak!

An assembly that explores feelings and our inner voice. It looks at how pupils can focus on positive thoughts and there is a challenge at the end for some pupils to try over the course of the following week. There is also a link to an animation on Youtube.

A great way to get children thinking about some of the EEF research findings about teaching and learning. Includes references to collaborative learning and feedback.

This assembly explains some of the neuroscience behind emotions and how these can be managed. It has lots of diagrams to help explain the brains function and a short link to a clip that uses animation to show how emotions are integrated into our thinking. Good for linking into growth mindset as the brain is a muscle and, through the application of effort, can grow and work quicker and faster.

An assembly that explores what compassion means, and uses ideas from the bible and modern life to provide a thoughtful session for pupils to think more deeply.

An assembly that looks at what rights are and the difference between a ‘want’ and a ‘need’ making reference to everyday items and the UNCRC.

A short assembly that considers how children move on through transition. Easily adaptable to your setting. Includes a reference to Tony Walsh’s ‘New Beginnings’. You may need to find the Youtube clip if the link gets updated.

A mixed ability lesson with the main activity resource suitable for SEN children. The presentation has a clear objective an,d with the use of a textbook, has a creative task whereby pupils create a farm in the 1890s which shows some the changes made in agriculture since the 1750s. A really good way of getting the point across is get them to complete a similar farm design in 1750 using a textbook and then this 1890 one. Use a lesson and group work to pull out the main changes and then set up a debate around which change was the most significant.

An assembly suitable for key stages 2-4 that explores how people judge each other on areas such as appearance and were they work. It also looks at the variety of interests and tastes that exist in the UK. The assembly is quite interactive and requires some participation from the audience in terms of suggestions for what the images mean to them.

An assembly that explores friendship slightly differently than usual. Its split into sections: - Unusual friendships - Unknown friendships - Pet relationships - War

An assembly based around Edith Cavell and her story during WWI. It also looks at British nurses during the Great War. There is reference to poetry. It also makes a nice change to have the focus on a woman and her heroics.

An assembly that can be aimed at pupils from KS2 upwards. Explores the idea of friendship through real life stories and the many different ways it can manifest. Themes explored include friendship in times of extremes (POW camp), Olympic athletes and also historical using a story from ancient Greece. An assembly that explores the physical and spiritual dimensions about identity, including references to religion.

A form that can be used for SENCo’s and leaders to monitor the achievement and progress of EHCP pupils. I have used this in schools as a way of pin pointing provision for these pupils, sharing key information with teachers and ensuring the pupil is getting the relevant holistic education they need. Feel free to use or adapt as necessary.

A document to use as an SLT to evidence your progress against the Ofsted criteria, highlight areas if strength, and areas for development. A good way to keep self evaluating is have the template as a working document that you update each term. Think about: Specific evidence (e.g. events, data highlights) instead of a narrative.
